About
Special Olympics is a global movement of people creating a new world of inclusion and community, where every single person is accepted and welcomed, regardless of ability or disability. We are helping to make the world a better, healthier and more joyful place -- one athlete, one volunteer, one family member at a time. Special Olympics South Dakota - Rapid City Flame is a recognized program of Special Olympics South Dakota.
Special Olympics Rapid City Flame is an organization of community and business leaders, coaches, volunteers and parents who provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of sports for children and young adults with intellectual disabilities. There are now over 150 athletes from Rapid City and its surrounding communities participating in an ever-increasing number of sports and opportunities. Skilled coaches and volunteers create a delightful experience for the participating athletes and families.
Rapid City Flame participates in Special Olympics Unified Sports, joining children and young adults with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. Teams are made up of individuals of similar age and ability, which makes our practices more fun and games more challenging and exciting for all. Dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences, we see that people who train and play together develop friendships and understanding.
We serve the area of Rapid City and the Black Hills. All eligible athletes are welcome to participate. We can be contacted via email at This email address is being protected from spambots.
